Kenya Kahunyo AA Washed
We welcome our new relase - the Kenya Kahunyo AA. This fully washed exceptional Kenyan coffee has delicious blackcurrant notes matched with a clear and bright finish.
Always better to have it black to be able to savour the different notes from the origin but I believe this coffee would perform well with milk too.
This beauty scores over 88 SCA points, so no need for more words.
About the Origin:
The Kenya Thikagiki Kahunyo AA is a single-origin coffee from the Murang'a region of Kenya, processed at the Kahunyo washing station. The coffee is grown by smallholders who are part of the Thikagiki Farmers' Cooperative Society (FCS). It is known for its high-grown, fully washed beans, with a focus on quality and unique flavor characteristics.
The Kahunyo washing station uses fresh water from a local well and employs a thorough process of washing, grading, fermentation, and drying to enhance the coffee's quality. The coffee is dried on raised beds, with workers ensuring even drying and removing any defective beans. A period of resting in parchment after drying helps stabilize the water activity and contributes to the coffee's long-lasting vibrancy.
Brew ratios:
- Filter / Pour Over: 1:15 (1gram of coffee for 15 grams of water - or 30g of coffee for 450g of water)
- Espresso: (we're working on the recipe)
